The CHSS Growchapel project based in Drumchapel is aimed at improving health and wellbeing through the benefits of creating and managing a wellbeing garden. Come along and help us manage the wellness garden.
What did you enjoy about volunteering at CHSS? – I loved the community feel of the Wellness Garden initiative. Everyone was so welcoming and really appreciated our help. We came away feeling uplifted and as though we had helped make a small difference within the local community. We can’t wait to come back and help make the garden flourish even more in the Spring. It seems the garden is also a great way for local people to meet, get involved too and hear about other initiatives too. One woman I met while I was there said she loved to come just for the chat. Now that may sound simple, but sometimes it is the simple things such as “a chat” that make the biggest difference in someone’s life.
Why did you pick CHSS as your corporate volunteering? – Our GWR site is right beside the Wellness Garden, so we felt it was a great opportunity to get involved with a great charity in our local community.
Why does Edrington offer corporate volunteering to employees? – The Giving More ethos was created by Edrington to allow us to be a company that makes a positive contribution to the communities in which we work and live in. Employees are given 4 days per year where they can choose a charity of their choice to volunteer for, within working hours. It is a great opportunity for employees to get involved with something they are passionate about and give back to their local community.
Would you recommend others to volunteer at CHSS? 100%! As mentioned previously, we were made to feel so welcome and actually felt like we made a small difference in the help we gave. I think the charity does great work for a cause that any of us could be affected by during our lives. It is a worthy cause and I would encourage everyone to get involved in any way they can.
