By fundraising for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland at the Tough Runner Glasgow Epic Trail 10K, you’ll be helping people across Scotland do more than survive – you’ll help them really live. Every penny you raise will go towards making sure people get the support they need as they return home from hospital.
You’ll be helping people like Derek, 46 from Saltcoats, who had a massive stroke in 2017. He couldn’t speak, he couldn’t move and his children had to move in with their grandparents.
“Allison from Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland has been there for me ”
But then he met our support worker Allison. With her help, Derek has been getting his life back. His speech has improved, he can write using his left hand and his walking is getting better every day. But then coronavirus struck, just as Derek had moved into a new house. “I was worried I would be feeling lonely in lockdown. I instantly thought to myself ‘oh my goodness, that’s me on my own now’. I had just moved house, and didn’t know the neighbours just yet, so it was a scary thought. “But Allison from Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland has been there for me and her support has been incredible. “My speech and my writing has improved a lot because of Allison. She has been amazing and I know if I ever have any problems she is there for me.” By raising money for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, you can help Allison be there for more people like Derek, making sure people across Scotland get the support they really need. So, it’s time to get your superhero fundraising cape on and start raising money!
If you need any support to make your fantastic fundraising ideas really fly, we’re here to help!
