Do you want to tick off a bucket list event?

View the iconic sites of Scottish natural beauty over the course of one day. This challenge is led by an experienced team of mountaineers, setting off from the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre to view the bonnie summit of Ben Nevis with the option to include the Steall Waterfall – known from the Harry Potter films.

This experience is for newbies to the walking scene, along with the experienced hill walker. CHSS will be with you all the way, from supporting you with your fundraising and training, and we will be onsite to ensure you have the best experience you can!

We welcome absolutely everyone to join us on this life changing day. You can join us as an individual and meet brand new friends who you will be sharing this experience with. Or sign up as a group of friends, family or colleagues and have an adventure of a lifetime together!

So what are you waiting for? Join us today for this iconic challenge and experience the beauty of Scotland like never before!

You can choose between taking on the peak or including a waterfall wander. Which challenge will you conquer?

Ben Nevis

Hike up Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK! We will use the main path to both reach the top and then return. With no rocky sections this is a relatively straightforward and safe option for those without as much experience of hill walking.

This route involves walking on at times rough terrain with 4,413 feet (1,345m) gained so a good level of fitness is required.

If you do choose to change your mind on the day that is not a problem!

Ben Nevis and Steal Waterfall

Take in some more beautiful scenery and add Steall Waterfall to your route before hiking up Ben Nevis. The walk is through the stunning Glen Nevis, about 3.5km long and a 220m ascent. It really is worth it to see Scotland’s third highest waterfall.

Sponsorship: We ask entrants to raise a minimum of £200 sponsorship for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland. For our part, we will provide all the support you need to help you meet and beat your fundraising goal.

Accessibility:

Whatever option is undertaken you should have at least a good level of fitness. You must also be comfortable walking on rough terrain.

Routes will be marked with sufficient Mountain Leaders on the route to ensure the safety of participants. However, it is also very much the responsibility of each individual to ensure their own safety and not to put others at risk of greater danger.

Some walking / training is recommended, but most people will be able to do it with some determination. You do not need to be a ‘hill expert’ but when signing up you are committing to training and getting ready for the challenge.

A suggested training plan will be provided on registration.

Age restrictions: All children and young people (under 18) are very welcome but must be accompanied on all routes by a responsible adult aged 18 or over.

What we provide: We’ll provide a suggested training plan and kit list once you’ve registered.

Take on this challenge and you’ll be helping people across Scotland do more than survive – you’ll help them really live.

Your bravery makes a difference

Tim had a stroke at the age of 36 which completely changed his life forever.

“I suffered three strokes within three days. My wife and children watched me have a stroke right in front of them.”

“Thankfully I survived, but from that point on my battle to recover began. The stroke left me with left-sided paralysis. I couldn’t do anything for myself. Part of my head was missing, and I was a mess.”

“It was hard to accept that I had come so close to leaving my family and friends. But I didn’t. I survived.”

“The time when you leave hospital can be the most lonely, isolating and difficult of times. Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is there to make sure no one has to recover alone. But the work the charity does is only possible thanks to you. Your support means everything.”
