Swim4Stroke in Hawick 12 October 2017 Are you looking for a fitness challenge before Christmas celebrations start? Or perhaps you are looking for a bit of motivation to get back into the swimming pool? If so then Teviotdale Leisure Centre and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) have the perfect challenge for you! Teviotdale Leisure Centre are hosting the Hawick Swim4Stroke where participants are challenged to swim the equivalent of 23 miles along the River Tweed between Hawick & Kelso. Alison Acosta, Fundraising Manager for CHSS explained “It’s quite a challenge, but you don’t have to do it all in one go. From the beginning of October you’ll have 6 weeks to complete it, so you only need to average 34 lengths a day (although you can do more than that if you wish) and SWIMTAG will record your efforts.” You don’t even have to be a current member of the Leisure Centre as you can register as a guest to take part and will get access to the clever SWIMTAG system for free for the duration of Swim4Stroke. If 23 miles seems daunting why not sign up with a friend to complete the challenge between you? It’s a great opportunity to get fit and raise funds for charity and therefore giving you that extra bit of motivation to get your swimsuit on and get down to the pool. All funds raised will fund vital services in the Borders helping people to get their lives back on track after a stroke including one to one and group support within the community. Once you are registered you’ll get everything you need to kick start your fundraising including information about setting up a Swim4Stroke online fundraising page.
