Stride Round the Clyde for CHSS!

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s Round the Clyde Walkathon is back with a spook-tacular Halloween twist!

Gather your friends and family on Sunday 29th October and start your Halloween fun early by striding round the Clyde in your best fancy dress to help raise vital funds for CHSS. All the money raised will help support people in Scotland as they get their lives back on track following a stroke, or diagnosis of a chest or heart condition.

The Walkathon follows a flat urban circular route round the edge of the famous River Clyde, starting and finishing at the CHSS west of Scotland office within the HUB (70 Pacific Quay, Glasgow). This spook-tacular event is perfect for participants of all ages and fitness levels, and is suitable for wheelchair users, prams and welcomes well-behaved dogs too! There is a choice of 2 walking distances to walk, wiggle, wheel or wag round: the ghoulishly delightful 6K (3 laps) or the hair-raising 10K (5 laps).

Andrea McIntyre, Event Manager, said, “We are so excited about this year’s walk. Where else would you get the chance to wear your Halloween costume during the day!  An addition to the walk we have a Health and Well-being market within the Hub. There will be a concoction of natural sweet treats and pampering products to experience, sample and purchase after completing the walking challenge that will leave people feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!.  The event was really successful last year and raised almost £10,000. This year we are asking everyone to sign up and raise even more in aid of CHSS, helping us to support those people in Scotland who are leftfeeling isolated, fearful or anxious after a stroke, or a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition

“There is a small fee of £10 per adult and £5 per child (ages 5-17), with under 5’s walking for free. Every participant will receive one of our branded t-shirts to wear, and on completion of their personal challenge, a medal of achievement to wear with pride. Registration starts at 10am for the 10K and 10:45am for the 6K.” Halloween outfits are strongly encouraged.  Aim for one of our spots prizes under the categories of ‘most creative’, ‘funniest’ and ‘best team costume”.

Take part and help support people in Scotland who are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions. To find out more and sign-up visit www.scotlandwalkathon.com or call 0300 1212 999.
