Paisley Law Firm Partners with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland

MJC LAW has named Scotland’s largest health charity, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, as its charity partner for 2025 and have plans for a variety of fundraisers throughout the year.

The firm, run by solicitor Matthew Coffield, wanted to get involved and “give back” by teaming up with CHSS.

Matthew said: “We decided we wanted to partner with a charity and do something that would allow us to give back to our local community.

“We discussed it and Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is an organisation that is important to members of the team.

“I work with my sister Ruth and our dad, Vincent, died of a stroke 22 years ago so he was a young man when he died. My son has been volunteering in the CHSS boutique in Kilmacolm for a few months so that made it a pretty easy choice.”

Throughout the year members of the team will zipslide, walk and bake to contribute to the charity.

Matthew added: “Some of the CHSS fundraising team came to meet with us and said there are a lot of opportunities to get involved and we got quite interested in that. We felt we can do something for a good cause. MJC LAW is focussed on the Renfrewshire community and empowering people so when your colleagues said we can do this and have fun we were all in.

“We have six of us in total in the office three of us are doing Zipslide the Clyde, two are doing the Glasgow Kiltwalk and all six of us are in for the Tartan Tea Party later this year.

“Our primary aim is to, at least, raise awareness of CHSS and the conditions it supports.”

Louise MacLeod, Events, Community and Corporate Fundraiser, said: “We’re so glad to have the support of MJC LAW this year and wish them well on their fundraisers throughout the year.

“Partnerships are a hugely important part of our work. As well as raising vital funds, this relationship will allow us to reach more people in the Paisley and Renfrewshire community and help us realise our vision of a Scotland where people with our conditions can live their lives well.

“Thanks to everyone at MJC LAW for their support. Together we can ensure no life is half lived in Scotland.”

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is committed to reaching 175,000 people living with its conditions across Scotland a year by 2028 through its Community Healthcare Support Services.
