Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s Dunbar Store Reopens 28 February 2024 Staff have been working around the clock to complete the refit of the Dunbar shop which opened its doors on Monday morning. The reopening of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s beloved Dunbar store was a “huge success” this week. The Dunbar unit, which has been in operation in the town’s High Street since 1996, opened its doors to customers on Monday morning. We wanted to give back to the community and the volunteers by making the store new and fresh so it’s a nicer place to shop. Diane Mckervail, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s Regional Retail Manager, said: “The store has done so well over the years and it’s never had any work done. “We wanted to give back to the community and the volunteers by making the store new and fresh so it’s a nicer place to shop. “Dunbar opened with huge success today and the customer feedback was fantastic. “Joan, one of our lovely volunteers who has volunteered in Dunbar for 25 years, cut the ribbon ready for our wonderful customers to come in. “Well done to all the team for an amazing refit – go sunny Dunny!” Joan, one of our lovely volunteers who has volunteered in Dunbar for 25 years, cut the ribbon ready for our fantastic customers to come in. The shop received a full refit and staff and volunteers will be ready to accept any donations from kind-hearted members of the local community. The shop accepts and sells clothes, books, accessories, bric-a-brac and homeware. Margaret Black, the Dunbar manager, said: “We’re more excited for the volunteers who will have a new environment which is nice and fresh. “Most of our volunteers are long-standing. Two volunteers celebrated 25 years of service last year which is just incredible. The rest of the volunteers have been here for coming up 10 years. The newer ones have been here three or four years so we have a great team of volunteers here. We’re very lucky. “It’s been a massive team effort to get ready to reopen.” Many hands have made light work for Margaret and the Dunbar team. Assistant manager Ishbelle Cessford, regional retail support manager Sharron Fraser, multi-site manager Linda Hastie and a supporting cast of hard working individuals have the shop ready for the big day.
