Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is excited to host sessions in Chambers of Commerce in Glasgow, Dundee and Lochaber to coincide with National Heart Month. The events are designed to raise awareness of the vital work of CHSS to support people in those areas. They will also highlight how you can get involved to help us achieve our ambition to deliver our Community Healthcare Support Service to 175,000 people and achieve our No Life Half Lived mission. In Glasgow, held at Clockwise, attendees will have the chance to hear from Katrina McCormick, Deputy Head of Professional Engagement & Service Delivery at CHSS. Katrina will explain to employees & employers about the impact of the condition on women’s lives across the country. Lochaber Chamber of Commerce will host an event focussing on heart health and employee wellbeing at the Muthu Fort William Hotel between 12pm and 1.30pm. Heather McCann, Community, Events and Corporate Fundraising Manager, said: “We believe every person with our conditions should have access to quality supported self-management and community recovery. “While we recognise we can’t do this alone and must develop innovative partnerships to bolster our impact, the Chamber of Commerce events provide a fantastic platform for us to build new relationships and foster opportunities to help make an even greater difference in our communities. “In particular we want to focus on heart disease in women, which is the leading cause of death for women in Scotland. Around 100,000 women in Scotland are living with heart disease and compared to men, heart attacks and heart disease are often underestimated and under-treated in women. “CHSS wants to support and empower women and employers to look after their health whether they are living with heart disease or may be at risk of the condition. “These networking events will provide free access to key health information and advice that will help raise awareness, educate and equip you and your team.”
