The Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) Advice Line aims to meet the needs of patients, their families and health professionals by providing confidential, independent advice on all aspects of chest heart and stroke illness.
The specialist nurses are happy to research your enquiries for you and help you source the right information for your patients.
CHSS Affiliated Groups
CHSS affiliated groups / clubs offer ongoing support for those living with chest heart or stroke conditions, as well as their family and friends, in local communities.
They are independently run and provide a source of supported exercise, information, signposting, confidence and reassurance and are an invaluable part of learning to live with a chest heart or stroke condition.
CHSS Stroke Nurses
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) nurses provide support in the community to people affected by stroke illness throughout Scotland.

Virtually every aspect of chest heart and stroke illness is covered in the series of booklets and factsheets.
Up to 100 chest heart and stroke booklets plus up to 100 factsheets at a time are available free of charge to health professional and other people living in Scotland.
CHSS Volunteer Stroke Groups
CHSS Volunteer Stroke Service is run by the Community Services Department at CHSS. It has offered local stroke services throughout Scotland for more than 30 years with particular focus on people with a communication difficulty.

Heart Failure Support Service
The aim of the Heart Failure Support Service is to support patients and carers with the social impact of heart failure who are living in the community.
Managed Clinical Networks
Managed Clinical Networks [MCNs] have been developed across Scotland to support a modern approach to improving health care and services in Scotland.
Membership of MCNs is open to patients and carers, joining doctors, nurses, managers, therapists... to improve chest heart and stroke care for local people.
Research
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland funds vital medical research into every aspect of the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of chest heart and stroke illness.
Our current programme is worth over £600,000 a year, and is one of the largest charitably-funded programmes in Scotland.

A group of Respiratory Nurse Specialists in NHS Scotland who share information and network with colleagues both locally and nationally.
Scottish Heart Failure Nurses Forum
The Scottish Heart Failure Nurse Forum (SHFNF) is for registered nurses primarily involved in the specialist management patients with heart failure in Scotland.
Scottish Stroke Nurses Forum
The Scottish Stroke Nurses Forum (SSNF) is for registered nurses with an interest in stroke (events / conferences are open to other health professionals).
Voices Scotland
Free training and support is also available through Hearty Voices Scotland for patients and carers for Patient Involvement in the NHS in Scotland.
Welfare
Anyone who has a chest heart or stroke illness where the severity of the illness has caused need or financial hardship can apply for help through our personal support grants fund.
We can meet specific / general needs, except those covered by statutory sources.
Young Stroke Support Worker - Lanarkshire
The YSSW is community based with intervention taking place post discharge from hospital. The Young Stroke Support Worker (YSSW) post is an exciting development in Lanarkshire.
